Who this is for.
I built this because I needed it, and it didn’t exist.
I’ve had cancer. Twice. I’ve also sat beside someone I love as dementia took him, a little more each year, and learned that caring for someone else is its own kind of illness — the kind nobody screens you for.
I’m not putting my name on this page, and that’s on purpose. This was never about me. It’s for every person who has sat in a waiting room doing math they didn’t want to do, and every person who will sit in one after them.
I built this for the version of me who didn’t have it yet.
I’m building it, now, for you.
The center of this project is The Map — answer a few honest questions and get a personalized screening timeline, built just for you, in about a minute.
Our mission
An independent editorial project. No ads, no paid placement.
Listen. Most of what exists online about cancer risk is written to be found by search engines, not to actually help you. It's vague where it should be specific, and reassuring where it should be direct. Beyond Diagnosis exists to be the opposite of that.
We built this as an independent editorial project, not a hospital system, not a pharma-funded initiative, and not a storefront. We don't run ads, we don't take sponsorships, and nothing here is paid placement. The one exception is our own work, including resources we publish and stand behind. Our only job is to give people 35 and up the specific, evidence-grounded information they need to catch problems early and advocate for themselves when a doctor moves too slowly.
Why 35+
Cancer risk rises with age, but it doesn't wait politely for milestone birthdays, and rates of several cancers are climbing in adults under 50. We write for the specific, unglamorous reality of being in your late 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond: juggling caregiving, careers, and a body that's starting to send you messages you can't afford to misread.
How we write
Every warning sign, every access guide, every article follows the same voice: direct, fiercely on your side, and specific enough to act on. When we say "the exact ask," we mean it. We want you walking into an appointment with the exact sentence that gets you taken seriously.
What this is not
This is not medical advice, and it is not a diagnosis. It's the information and the confidence to have a better conversation with a licensed clinician, every single time.
Not medical advice.
Beyond Diagnosis is an independent editorial project. Nothing on this site replaces the judgment of a licensed clinician who knows your history. Always consult a doctor about your specific symptoms and risk factors.
